Off the ball we have to clear the right elbow pass the right hip so the arms can lift in a more squared position. The square position is what keeps the club head and the arms on the swing plane as we transition up.  This positioning also helps keep the elbows closer together, real tight together, as we move to the top of the backswing and start the downswing by moving the arms forward.
